This work was first presented in 1933 at the exhibition dedicated to the 15th anniversary of Red Army. The sketch of the painting is preserved in the funds of the Museum of V.I. Lenin.
Later a huge edition of reproductions of this painting was spread throughout the country and included in textbooks.
