On the reverse side is the autograph of the artist Evgeny Alexandrovich Katsman: “To Istpart. Picture of May 1, 1919, when, by the order of the Moscow Council, artist Nivinsky and I were entrusted with a task of decorating Moscow and Red Square, but not in a futuristic way. We decorated Moscow inviting all good artists- realists. I painted the port. of K. Marx, a head of 3 arshins. Artist Eugen. Katzman 25/VIII/23.
P.S. I could not deny the joy of making photo with Ilyich, what I did standing behind him without a hat. I knew the guards and was going everywhere as I was the Secretary of the Folk Holidays Section of Moscow Council. Ev. K”.
Judging by the text on the back, the photo belonged to artist E. A. Katsman (1890-1976) and was intended for Istpart (Commission on the history of the October Revolution and the RCP/b/, in 1923 Department of the Central Committee of the RCP/b/).
